Marisa is a mother, photographer, yoga teacher and lifestyle blogger. She was born and raised in Zambia, educated in the UK and has been living in Turks & Caicos since 2014.
She completed her yoga teacher training at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in Kerala, India in 2005 and has since been profoundly influenced by the liberating teachings of Vanda Scaravelli as taught by Diane Long and Dot Bowen. Marisa has taught in Zambia, the UK and now Turks & Caicos.
Marisa offers a gentle version of Retreat’s Gentle Flow with a lighthearted approach to movement aiming at integrating the body through an effortless dance using breath and gravity in order to find your own experience of undoing in the postures. With her hypnotic voice she gently lulls students into a deeply restful state in her Yoga Nidra classes. Having experienced two pregnancies and births (one by c-section and the second VBAC) she is passionate to convey what she has learnt through pregnancy yoga, with a focus on both the physical and mental preparation for birth, as well as restorative post natal yoga.
When she’s not teaching yoga Marisa is either writing her latest musings on her lifestyle blog, At Home With Malita, photographing something beautiful, cooking healthy meals for her family or enjoying her two daughters.
